a brief history

I’m Amira - I grew up in Corvallis, Oregon and decided to move to the Windy City in order to pursue my education at Northwestern University! I started acting when I was eight years old, (I played the Gryphon in a riveting community theatre production of Alice and Wonderland), and ever since then, I’ve been hooked. My family started taking trips to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, which helped me foster my love for language. To this day, I still go almost every summer. Once I got to Northwestern, I majored in Theatre with a minor in African-American Studies, and I also completed the Music Theatre Certificate, as well as the Playwriting Module.

I’ve always known I wanted to act, but I’m so glad Northwestern allowed me to pursue my other interests in addition. I fell in love with film photography as a high-schooler, and I used to spend hours in the darkroom developing film between classes. Now, I take portraits, headshots, and production photos, and I’m so lucky two of the things I love most have collided. In my spare time, you can find me reading a historical fiction novel in one sitting, seeking out the best conchigliette the city has to offer, or practicing yoga at my local studio.

Best,

Amira
